THEME PARKS . GOLF . BEACH . NIGHTLIFE
For a relaxing, carefree, enjoyable holiday, lazing around at the Gold Coast beaches has to be on your list of priorities.
From Main Beach to Narrowneck and down to Coolangatta Beach, from South Stradbroke Island's resort Couran Cove to the gentle breezes at Miami Beach, the Gold Coast beaches stretch for miles along the coast. Refer to the Gold Coast City Council site for a map, to see for yourself.
Main Beach, in the midst of the Gold Coast activity, whisks you away to the sound of the surf and the rhythm of the tide right alongside cafés, boutique shops and an historic bathing pavilion. Try something new by hiring a surfboard, body-board or jet boat!
Discover the swells at Broadbeach, a surfer's haven. There are shady picnic spots nearby as well as an array of accommodation and boutique shops. Stroll along the seaside walks to Kurrawa Beach, where craft markets unfurl their tents bi-monthly-on first and third Sundays-all year round.
Looking for something away from the noise? Mermaid Beach is a quieter, family beach equipped with bike tracks, picnic spots and a children's playground. A little further south is Miami Beach, also accented with picnic and barbecue amenities, and adjacent Nobby Beach.
At about the midpoint of the Gold Coast, you'll see Coolangatta Beach, and the towering pine trees of Palm Beach and Burleigh Heads, another great surf spot and home of Quicksilver's Pro Surf tournament. From there, you'll find the site for Billabong's competition, Kirra Beach, where humpback whales breech on the horizon!
